routines. Clients are investing more than ever in their skin. But as a professional, you
know: what makes skin glow, can make it too sensitive for waxing.
Ingredients like Retinol, AHA, BHA, and fruit acids are exfoliants. They remove dead skincells and improve texture, great for radiance, but they also make the skin thinner and more sensitive. And thinner skin means one thing:increased waxing risk.
Thin skin + hot wax = irritation, burns, and even skin lifting.
Not only painful for the client but potentially damaging to your reputation as a trusted professional. If your client is using products that exfoliate or renew the skin, waxing should be postponed. Here’s a clear guideline to follow:
- Advise clients to stop using Retinol, AHA, BHA, or fruit acids at least two weeks before any brow waxing service.
- If the client is taking oral acne medication (even if the acne isn’t on the face), it’s important to wait. These medications affect the entire skin barrier through the bloodstream. Wait at leastthree months after stopping treatment before waxing.
As a beauty professional, it’s your responsibility to ensure client safety and minimize
risks. Miscommunication about skincare use can lead to completely avoidable
complications.
